Internet business, like any other business, require some investment of any kind, a location, and a monetization method. You can have any kind of Internet business but still you'll need three main components, without them there is no business.


These components are:


1. A Location:

The location in Internet business is the domain name of the website of this business. There are certain criteria that a successful Internet business needs in the domain name. First the domain name needs to represent the content of the website, like what the website is about or the brand name of the company behind this website. A website that sells perfumes needs a domain name that either expresses the perfume industry, or a brand name of a perfume that this site is specialized in selling. A general domain like "shoppingontheinternet.com" is not a good domain in this case. A good one could be perfumes.com (represents the industry) or "escada.com" (the perfume brand name).


What happens and makes Internet businesses fail is that the entrepreneur picks up a hard to remember or a non-representing domain name. Also, there are many Internet businesses websites and courses that teach how to build a business on the Internet without a website, which makes it even worse.


2. Traffic to this Location:

Most of the failures in Internet business field are due to the lack of traffic. You might have the best website, the best product, and the most converting sales copy, but if no one visits your website no one will take an action that makes you money. You need traffic to your website in order to be able to convert this traffic into money.


But not all traffic is created equal, and the volume of this traffic doesn't matter if you are targeting the wrong audience. If you want to succeed in your Internet business you need to either master at least two sources of traffic, or hire someone who does.


3. A List:

Most Internet entrepreneurs have already understood the importance of building a list of their website visitors, but still some others didn't get it.


Collecting the contact information of the website visitors is critical. This list of website visitors is to be used in the future for communicating new promotions, new content on the website, or for promoting other people products within the affiliate frame. This list works as a virtual ATM machine because it's a way to produce money on demand. If you have a promotional offer that you made up to generate some sales the best and fastest way to get response to this promotion is by sending your list of website visitors an email telling them about it.

Other components of any Internet business are plenty, and they are all required in order to have a safe, stable, and profitable business, but the above three are the most important foundations that no business can exist without them. Mess with them and you can kiss your business goodbye
